Altaun Nature Trail
Details
Description
The Altaun, the sunny hill in Valendas, is a very special place for plants. Special shrubs adapted to dry locations grow here, as well as some very rare flowers on the unique viewpoint hill. The nature trail can be walked at any time. The information on the woody plants is available year-round, the information on flowers only during the growing season.
The information boards are partly placed a bit off the path at the forest edge. Therefore, it is worth looking closely at the surroundings to discover as many locations as possible.
Hidden Gem
Combine the nature trail with a visit to the faszinatur room at the village square. There you will receive further information about the flora and fauna in the region.
Equipment
Good footwear is recommended.
Directions
You leave the village square heading towards the church and continue walking along the church wall around the church. On the gravel path, continue to the forest edge of the Altaun hill. Do not follow the gravel path but turn left onto a natural path leading you to the first locations of bushes and flowers. Soon it goes steeply uphill to the Altaun. The view of the village from here is wonderful. When you look around here, you will already discover further posts indicating the locations of trees and bushes as well as flowers. Somewhat hidden in the forest, there are more locations of shrubs and trees. Back on the open area, follow the path and leave the Altaun on the other side. Arriving at a small road, follow it to the left and so return to the village. On the way back you will find various flowers indicated.
