Description

Near the historic town of Chur, the cable car starts towards Brambrüesch. Even during the short ride above the oldest town in Switzerland, the view opens up over the roofs of Chur and the surrounding mountains.

Once you arrive at the gently undulating high plateau, the path leads through idyllic alpine landscapes with views of the mountain world around Arosa, the Schanfigg, and Lenzerheide. A varied section through the forest brings hikers to the clearing at Spundis, where the view opens up – now dominated by the horizon with the striking Tödi. On the further ascent, the mighty Calanda massif and the Ringelspitz shape the panorama.

Soon the next stage goal is reached: the Hühnerköpfe near the Furggabüel chairlift. Below the lift, the path continues towards the summit. The tour’s highlight is the historic Three Leagues Stone, the former border point of the three Rhaetian leagues. Here awaits an impressive 360-degree panorama: Heinzenberg, Safiental, Vorder- and Hinterrhein valleys, Vorab, Falknis, the Rätikon, as well as the mountain ranges around Arosa, Lenzerheide, and Davos. At the highest point, the Furggabüel (2174 m above sea level), a panoramic board provides information about the surrounding peaks and the clearly visible formations of the Sardona Tectonic Arena (UNESCO World Natural Heritage).

The snowshoe tour can be started either in Brambrüesch or in Pradaschier. Those who wish can round off the experience with a thrilling descent: In Pradaschier, the longest toboggan run in Switzerland offers excitement, while in Brambrüesch rental sledges are available for the descent to the Känzeli intermediate station.

Safety Note

Beware of avalanche danger
  •  Only use secured or officially marked snowshoe trails if you have no avalanche training
  •  Keep distance on steep slopes, avoid danger zones (gullies, depressions, cornices)
  • Abort the tour if conditions are uncertain
