Churfirsten-Panoramabike

From Walenstadt, the route leads first on the mountain road to Walenstadtberg. At Schrina-Hochrugg, a detour to the temple-like work of art "Paxmal" is worthwhile. Karl Bickel's life's work is based on the original idea of peace. On natural roads directly below the Churfirsten we continue to the Alps Schwaldis and Säls.
Up to Säls the route is easily drivable. From this point, however, only tech-savvy bikers should continue. The steep ascent with breathtaking views of the nearby rock faces and the lake is followed by a flat section before the first ravine is traversed on a rough and stony path. After a 10-minute push/carrying passage, the highest point is reached.
The following trail to Laubegg is narrow, exposed in places and technically challenging. The panorama, however, is unforgettable. The further descent includes a sliding passage at the beginning, but then becomes more and more fluid, except for a blocked passage shortly before Betlis. A detour to the Seerenbach Falls is very worthwhile. From Betlis follow the Seestrasse to Weesen and continue along the Linth to Ziegelbrücke.
