Description
From Walenstadt, the route first leads along the mountain road to Walenstadtberg. At Schrina-Hochrugg, it is worth making a detour to the temple-like work of art "Paxmal". Karl Bickel's life's work is based on the original idea of peace. The route continues on natural roads directly below the Churfirsten to the Schwaldis and Säls Alps.
The route is easy to ride as far as Säls. From this point, however, only technically experienced bikers should continue. The steep ascent with breathtaking views of the nearby rock faces and the lake is followed by a flat section before the first ravine is traversed on a rough and stony path. The highest point is reached after a 10-minute push/carry section.
The following trail to Laubegg is narrow, exposed in places and technically demanding. However, the panorama is unforgettable. The rest of the descent includes a pushing section at the beginning, but then becomes increasingly flowy, except for a blocked section shortly before Betlis. A detour to the Seerenbach Falls is well worthwhile. From Betlis, follow the lakeside road to Weesen and continue along the Linth to Ziegelbrücke.

Safety Note
The trail from Alp Säls is very exposed, good bike handling is a prerequisite.
For safety and wildlife protection reasons, the section between Alp Säls and Laubegg can only be used from the beginning of May to the end of November between 9 a.m. at the earliest and 3 p.m. at the latest. The section between Alp Säls and Betlis is used by hikers and mountain bikers at the same time. Therefore, please ride with consideration and give way to hikers. To prevent erosion, only ride on existing paths and not with locked brakes. It is better to dismount and push off in difficult and unsafe places.
