Description
The hut hike on Lake Walen begins in the tranquil settlement of Walenstadtberg, which can be easily reached by bus from Walenstadt.
The trail begins on a paved road to Alp Tschingla, around four hours away at 1,528 m above sea level. A highlight of the hike is the "Paxmal" peace monument, which is located between magnificent flower meadows and pastures. The Swiss artist Karl Bickel spent a whole 25 years building this monument to create a place of peace and reflection. A good opportunity for a short breather before the hike to the alp continues. The path soon becomes increasingly narrow and stony.
After spending the night, you have the opportunity to enjoy an alpine hut breakfast with a view of Lake Walen and the imposing Churfirsten mountain range. Strengthened, you then set off on the approximately four-hour return hike to Walenstadt, which leads through forests, past streams and Maiensässen.
