Description

The two-day hut hike starts at the bus stop Gigerwald, dam. After a short walk along Lake Gigerwald, you reach the former Walser village of Sankt Martin. The hike begins along the Tamina river. After a while, you will pass the Sardona Alp, which has a small menu during the alpine season. Continue to the Sardona hut, which is located just below the Sardona glacier. It serves as your accommodation until you start the second stage of the hike the next day.

On the second day, the unique rock formations of the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona await you. The hike takes you past the Plattensee and Heitelsee lakes, which are perfect for a breather. The ridges and mountain peaks on your way down to Sankt Martin are ibex territory. But even if you don't get to see an ibex, the hike with the mountain backdrop of the Ringel, Sardona and Gigerwald peaks is a real eye-catcher.

Hidden Gem

With a bit of luck, you may spot bearded vultures in the wild on the circular walk, which have been released into the wild in this area.
