Details
Description
You start your route at a leisurely pace in Murg and ride along the fjord-like Lake Walen to Mühlehorn. From there, the route leads along side roads and paths to Filzbach. This is where the ascent begins along quiet side roads towards Habergschwänd high above Filzbach. For those who prefer to enjoy the view, the comfortable ascent with the mountain railroad is ideal. Once at the top, the Habergschwänd mountain restaurant invites you to take a break. Treat yourself to a short break in the deckchairs or indulge in some culinary delights. With fresh energy, you can now make your way back. The route now takes you back to Mühlehorn at a rapid pace over hill and dale. Here you can really let off steam again. From Mühlehorn, it's a relaxed pedal out back to Murg. If you want, you can reward yourself with a dip in the lake at the finish.
Hidden Gem
For camping fans, we recommend the campsite in Murg, which is located directly on the lake.
Safety Note
Ride with foresight and behave respectfully towards other recreationists and road users.
Equipment
Normal bike equipment. Functional clothing is an advantage, as a long ascent is followed by an equally long descent.
Directions
From Murg railroad station, follow the SwitzerlandMobility Cycle Route 9 Lakes Route along Lake Walen to Mühlehorn. Turn left at the church in Mühlehorn and cycle towards Oberdorf on the road towards Obstalden. Ride via Hintergrueben to Obstalden and from there again via Oberdorf and Reutegg towards Filzbach. Once there, the ascent starts via side roads to the Kerenzerberg. Follow the SwitzerlandMobility route 301 Kerenzerberg Bike. Alternatively, you can also use the mountain railroad. The return route begins at the Habergschwänd mountain restaurant. You reach the Talalp via a gravel road, turn right and ride along a meadow and forest path to Schwammboden.
