Description
The route starts in Bad Ragaz through Giessenpark and along the Rhine, then continuously climbs from the Fläsch wine-growing village, awarded the Wakker Prize in 2010, up to St. Luzisteig. Around the extensive military installations at the pass at 718 meters above sea level between Switzerland and Liechtenstein, a perfect place for a break can be found. After further challenging elevation on gravel and finally on broad hiking paths, we reach the Regitzerspitze, which offers magnificent panoramic views over the Chur and St. Gallen Rhine valleys as well as the Seez valley and the surrounding mountains. The long descent follows—briefly interrupted by the small high plateau of Luzisteig—over gravel roads and hiking paths past vineyards down to the Rhine. During the easy rolling over the Rhine dike, we cross the Giessenpark and reach again our starting point, the Tamina Therme Bad Ragaz.
Hidden Gem
The Heididorf from Johanna Spyri's world-famous novel offers an emotional time travel experience into the Swiss mountain world of the 19th century.
