Description

From the Promulins Arena, you follow the Inn to Gravatscha, where at the Gravatscha lake you turn right towards Val Champagna. Val Champagna is probably one of the least frequented valleys of the Upper Engadin. Along the Ova da Val Champagna, it starts immediately with steep gradients. Over a distance of 5.6 km, you must overcome 1100 meters of elevation to reach the highest point. Past the water intake of the small Val Champagna power plant, you slowly leave the forest and soon reach the Chamanna Val Champagna, where the gradient eases off for a short time. The path first goes through some swampy area, then becomes steeper and more demanding as you go up again. The last ramp before reaching the Fuorcla becomes rocky and demands what seems like your last reserves. As soon as you reach the Fuorcla, you see on the other side the Lej Muragl, a beautiful mountain lake located just below the route. On the high trail where in winter the popular Philosopher's Path is laid out, it goes slightly downhill with a breathtaking view to Muottas Muragl. However, it is advisable not to look too much at the beautiful panorama, as the moraine requires full attention. Past the Muottas Muragl mountain hotel, you go into the last steep descent of the day. Especially the last section under Chaunt da Luf again requires full concentration before returning along the Gravatscha lake and Inn back to the Promulins Arena.
