Description

From the Promulins Arena, you follow the Inn to Gravatscha, where you turn right towards Val Champagna at the Gravatschasee. Val Champagna is probably one of the least frequented valleys in the Upper Engadin. Along the Ova da Val Champagna, the steep gradients start right away. Over a distance of 5.6 km, you have to overcome 1100 meters of elevation to the highest point in one stretch. Past the water intake of the small power plant Val Champagna, you slowly leave the forest and soon reach Chamanna Val Champagna, where the slope flattens out briefly. The path first goes through somewhat swampy terrain before becoming steeper and more demanding again uphill. The last ramp before reaching the Fuorcla then becomes rocky and demands the seemingly last reserves. As soon as the Fuorcla is reached, you see on the other side the Lej Muragl, a beautiful mountain lake located slightly below the route. On the high trail, where the popular Philosophenweg is made in winter, you descend gently with a dreamy view towards Muottas Muragl. However, it is recommended not to focus too much on the dreamy panorama, as the Prad demands full attention. Past the mountain hotel Muottas Muragl, you go into the last steep descent of the day. Especially the last section under Chaunt da Luf again requires full concentration before it goes back along the Gravatschasee and Inn to the Promulins Arena.
