Description

We are not intimidated by the mightiness of the mountain and look forward to a challenging mountain day. Our hike starts in Val Plattas near Pardatsch, from where we start towards Val Muraun and Alp Cazirauns. At the Fuorcla da Vallesa we leave the marked hiking trail and climb over the south ridge to the summit. Once at the top, the wide summit surprises with the proud stone men. There is nothing that clouds the view.

We cross the summit and descend in a northerly direction first on stony slabs, later on more or less slippery ground over the north ridge to the Muraun Pign. There are still old trail markers, but they are already quite faded. We follow the trail that leads down to the left of the Muraun Pign until we have to cross a small valley. On cattle trails we are looking for a path diagonally over the pastures in the direction of Alp Soliva.  The last part of the hike takes us through forests and meadows to Masauna and on to Val Muraun until we reach the starting point Pardatsch

Variant: Drive from Curaglia by car to Soliva. The direct way to the summit and the same way back again. Time saving: about 1 hour

Geheimtipp

At the municipality of Medel or in the hotels of Curaglia you can obtain a driving permit to Pardatsch

Sicherheitshinweis

The north ridge is partly slippery and exposed.

The crossing is not part of the signposted hiking trail network and is not maintained. However, some old markings are still available.

Ausrüstung

Good footwear and orientation skills are required. Sticks are helpful when descending

Directions

From the parking lot in Pardatsch we follow the signposts in the direction of Pardatsch and past the Maiensässen to the Val Muraun. Before the stream we turn right to Fuorcla da Vallesa. At this transition we leave the marked path in a northerly direction and follow the ridge, which is sometimes more and sometimes less rocky to the summit. At the northeastern end of the summit, the descent over the north ridge begins, to the small saddle between Piz Muraun and Muraun Pign. Trail tracks lead down to the left which we follow. A little further down we always keep slightly to the right and stay at about the height of 2437. As soon as we have crossed the northernmost ditch, we hike towards Alp Soliva. Here we meet again the marked hiking trail that leads down to Curaglia. We follow this to the forest, where there is an alpine hut on the left. We turn left here onto another marked hiking trail, past the hut, cross two small valleys until we reach the next turnoff. We keep to the left again. This is followed by two more small valleys, after which we find a turnoff again. We take the path to the left again, which leads us to the bridge in Val Muraun. Immediately afterwards we reach the hiking trail that we took at the beginning. Now it is only a few minutes back to Pardatsch.
