Description
The alpine circular mountain hike gran giro del lago is about 8 kilometers long and includes nearly 700 meters of ascent and as much descent. The hike takes about 4 to 5 hours for experienced alpine hikers. The route is partly exposed and often equipped with chains and iron steps. You should be free from vertigo to enjoy the path. At two points, glacier streams have to be crossed on narrow footbridges. Especially the middle part leads through pathless, blocky terrain requiring sure-footedness in difficult terrain. The route is marked blue-white. Where there is a risk of falling, chains are installed at most points. For the experienced and sure-footed alpine hiker, it is possible to walk the route without a via ferrata set. Less experienced alpine hikers should better equip themselves with a climbing harness and via ferrata set for self-protection as a safety measure. A climbing helmet can also prove quite useful.
