Description

The start of this trail run is very moderate: almost flat and on a well-maintained path that is particularly popular with families (Heidipfad). After the Vilterser Obersäss, the ascent really gets going. We are rewarded with a crystal-clear mountain lake along the way: the Viltersers Seeli. A second lake on the way is the Sunntigweidsee, an artificial reservoir in a wonderful location. From the beach chairs set up here, you have a magnificent view of the valley.

Hidden Gem

Trail running workshops are held on various dates on the Pizol. Accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.

Safety Note

Depending on the weather, the mountain paths can be slippery in places.

Equipment

Normal trail running equipment (trail shoes recommended everywhere). Take enough food and drink with you (self-catering principle).

Directions

We take the gondola lift from Bad Ragaz to the starting point in Pardiel. Here we run along the well-maintained Heidi trail towards the Schwarzbüelhütte. This section has almost no difference in altitude and is therefore perfect for a leisurely start to today's trail run. At Alp Schwarzbühl, we turn right towards Vilterser Obersäss. This is our next destination, which we reach on a great trail and through rough vegetation. Now comes a crisp ascent towards Vilterser Seeli. Passing an alp and the cross at Tagweidli, we manage just under 300 m of ascent. At the lake, we turn left again towards Pardiel. At the fork (made of wood - only described from one side), we turn right in the direction marked "Suntigweidsee". This section of the trail is not recorded on all hiking tools, but is very well maintained. After a great hilly trail, we come to the Suntigsweidsee, which has a very special idea: Where in the Alps can I find beach chairs that invite me to relax? From here to the finish in Pardiel, you can once again enjoy the fantastic view towards the Rhine Valley. A forest path takes us back to the starting point. The cable car takes us back to Bad Ragaz.
