Description
For those who want to try trail running for the first time on the Bad Ragaz side of the Pizol, this trail is particularly suitable. Apart from the relatively short but steep start, the trail runs through very moderate terrain. Along the way, it is worth stopping or at least paying close attention at the Sunntigweid reservoir and the Schwarzbühl viewpoint. Here, stunning panoramas beckon into the valley and the surrounding mountain world.
Hidden Gem
Trail running workshops take place on various dates at Pizol. Accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.
Safety Note
The trail has no major technical difficulties, but beginners should be particularly attentive on the trail, especially in wet weather.
Equipment
Normal trail running equipment (trail running shoes recommended everywhere). Bring enough supplies and drinks (self-catering principle). Maps and cellphone with good reception.
Directions
With the gondola, we float from Bad Ragaz to Pardiel. From there, we walk along the forest path past the beautiful Edelweiss signs until we reach the mountain station of the "Schwamm" chairlift (operational only in winter). Now, we have already left the strenuous altitude gain behind us and follow the path to the Suntigweidsee. Here, the beach chairs invite you to linger, or we walk past the lake and then along the hiking trail to the next fork (wooden signpost). Here, we take the trail right towards the valley and then towards the Schwarzbühl viewpoint. The view towards Churfirsten, the Rhine Valley, and the Bündner Herrschaft is overwhelming. Now, we walk on the trail back towards Pardiel. Along the way, we will surely encounter one or another chamois. In Pardiel, we take the gondola back down to the valley.
