Description
If you want to try trail running for the first time on the Bad Ragaz side of the Pizol, this trail is particularly suitable for you. Apart from the relatively short but steep start, the trail runs over very moderate terrain. Along the way, it is worth stopping or at least taking a closer look at the Sunntigweid reservoir and the Schwarzbüel viewpoint. Here you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
Hidden Gem
Trail running workshops are held on various dates on the Pizol. Accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.
Safety Note
The trail is without any major technical difficulties, but beginners should be careful on the trail, especially in wet weather.
Equipment
Normal trail running equipment (trail shoes recommended everywhere). Take enough food and drink with you (self-catering principle). Maps and cell phone with good reception.
Directions
We take the gondola lift from Bad Ragaz to Pardiel. There we walk along the forest path along the beautiful Edelweiss plaques until we reach the top station of the "Schwamm" chairlift (winter only). Now the strenuous ascent is already behind us and we follow the path to the Suntigweidsee lake. Here the beach chairs invite you to linger or we can walk past the lake and then follow the hiking trail to the next fork in the trail (wooden signpost). Here we take the trail to the right towards the valley and then towards the Schwarzbühl viewpoint. The view towards the Churfirsten, Rhine Valley and Bündner Herrschaft is stunning. Now we walk back along the trail towards Pardiel. We are sure to come across a goat or two on the way. In Pardiel, we take the cable car back down to the valley.
