678 Hochtal Val Frisal (oua_18278602_image)
The Val Frisal Plateau is one of the most beautiful high valleys of the Alps. A wide view of the valley shows a vast floodplain with branching rivers. The Scatlé ancient spruce forest is another highlight of this hike.

Description

The start is at the mountain restaurant Burleun, known for a wonderful panorama towards Obersaxen and Brigels. Through a wild romantic but nameless valley, the path leads along the sometimes wildly rushing Flembach, past aromatic conifers. At the spruce primeval forest Scatlé near Chischarolas, it is recommended to take a short break at the fireplace. Wood is available. The Scatlé is the highest spruce primeval forest in Europe.

Further along the Flembach, the peaks of the nearer surroundings such as Kistenstöckli or Pèz d'Artgas come into view, followed by numerous three-thousanders. After the short ascent to Frisal, the magnificent view into the wide Val Frisal finally opens up, which depending on the season appears white from cotton grass, lush green, or yellowish brown. Those who are not yet too tired can still climb up to the viewpoint Crap Cavigliauna on the way back. From Chischarolas, the path leads on the right side of the valley to Breil/Brigels.

Safety Note

If weather conditions are uncertain, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar develops during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Attention: Snowfields are possible on high-altitude sections until the summer months.

Equipment

Good hiking shoes with a good tread, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket/sun protection), change of clothes, first aid kit, drink, food, possibly hiking poles.
