Description

The glacier foreland, the watercourses and a flat moor with rare fauna and flora make the Val Frisal one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Alps.

The starting point for the hike in Brigels is in Cuort on the Flembach stream below the small hill from which the chapels of Sogn Sievi (born 1183), Sogn Gieri (1643) and Sogn Gieri e Paul (1643) greet you. Just before the small bridge, a dirt road turns into the wildly romantic but nameless valley that leads to Val Frisal. Along the babbling Flem (village stream), the path leads slowly uphill. The varied ascent leads past spicy-scented conifers and through the middle of a magnificent alpine flora. On the left side of the path near Chischarolas is the entrance to the smallest, but probably most beautiful spruce primeval forest in Switzerland, the Scatlè. Then the 2745-metre-high Kistenstöckli, later the 2786-metre-high Pèz d'Artgas come into view. At Paliu da Rubi, the valley widens temporarily. At the same time, the path narrows and it becomes increasingly steep. And then, suddenly, the three-thousand-metre peaks come into view. The Val Frisal now opens up in all its glory, framed by snow-white splendour.

Now it's time to head back. The short ascent to Crap Cavigliauna (2073 m) is rewarded with a beautiful view of the alluvial plain of Val Frisal. From here, the descent can be taken via Alp Nova, where the ascent route for the return journey is reached again shortly after Chicharolas. Here we describe a counter-ascent to Burleun, from where you can take the train back to Brigels. But you can also hike back to Brigels on the ascent route.

Geheimtipp

  • If you continue along the wide plain of the Val Frisal, along the northern side of the valley, you will reach the glacier forefields near Durschin.
  • The Scatlè primeval spruce forest near Chischarolas can be seen as you walk past.
  • Refreshment stops: Brigels and Bergrestaurant Burleun
  • Nice barbecue area by the stream near Chischarolas

Please check the timetable of the chairlift Brigels - Crest Falla.
