Description

Near the mountain village and holiday resort Maloja located at the western end of Lake Sils, the Inn begins its long journey as a rushing mountain stream. Not far from its source lies the European watershed at Piz Lunghin. Maloja is the starting point of the Inn cycle route. However, we only start this route in Silvaplana.

In good wind conditions, many colorful kitesurfers, surfers, and sailors gather on this Silvaplana lake. A top sporting spectacle. Maloja, Sils, and Silvaplana are popular and traditional summer and winter holiday resorts on the Upper Engadin lake plateau. The tourist center of the Upper Engadin is St. Moritz, world-famous as a spa and winter sports resort. St. Moritz hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1928 and 1948. The cycle route runs from St. Moritz to Celerina past Lake San Murezzan and the idyllic small Lake Staz or directly along the Inn Gorge “Charnadüra.” Not to be missed is the prominent church of San Gian perched on a hill, whose oldest part dates back to the 13th century. The route continues via Punt Muragl and past the airfield to the idyllic Lake Gravatscha and from the holiday resort Bever to the proud mountain village La Punt Chamues-ch at the foot of the Albula Pass.

From La Punt, first along the golf course to Zuoz and further alongside the main road to just before S-chanf. There the Inn cycle route branches over to the village of S-chanf. Past the beautiful Engadin houses and the reformed church, you then cross a bridge at the outskirts of the village to the other side of the Inn. You now follow the Inn through a beautiful coniferous forest uphill and downhill to Zernez. Along the way, you cross the border between Upper and Lower Engadin.
