Description

The history of Andiast goes far back. On the Maiensässen of Andiast is an archaeological find from 1962 that proves that the mountain area was already inhabited in the late Iron Age.

Leaving the small village of Andiast, the path crosses the Val Mulin and soon reaches Waltensburg. The hike continues over pastures along the Brigelser See to Brigels. The blue glowing Brigelser See is not suitable for swimming, but there is a smaller nearby bathing lake.

The village of Brigels appears dreamy with its old village center and sun-browned houses. From the historic village center, the stage leaves the sunny terrace of Breil/Brigels. On the quiet alpine road, it passes the small hamlets of Capaul and Capeder until Schlans is reached. The mountain village is located on the northern slope of the municipality of Trun at about 1146 meters altitude.

The last section leads through the forest to Trun. The path down into the village runs along the Ferrerabach with a wide panorama of the mountains. The Grisons village lies at about 850 meters altitude on the young Rhine. Both the Romansh language and the historical building fabric have been well preserved here to this day. In 1424, Trun was the founding location of the Grey League, one of the three leagues which together formed a free state in the area of today's canton of Graubünden and existed until the collapse of the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1798.

Safety Note

If weather conditions are uncertain, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar develops during the hike, you should turn back in time.
