Description
There are more imposing dam walls. But that is not the attraction of this hike. The scenery becomes more attractive from the top of the wall. This is when you first catch sight of the impressive rock faces that surround the reservoir. A pleasant gravel road leads to the far end of the lake. There you can take a longer break at the barbecue area and soak your feet in the cold mountain water. When the snow melts in early summer, the streams back here carry a lot of water. The water dust from the waterfalls then cascades down the steep mountain slopes below the rocks. It is an impressive natural spectacle.
Continue over the stream bridge and along the beautiful hiking trail along the western bank. If you missed the first barbecue site, you will have another opportunity for a barbecue at the end of the dam. The hiking trail now descends a little more steeply and leads back to Pigniu via small roads. If you have driven to the dam wall by car, you can either walk back to the car via the top of the wall or further down to the parking lot.
Geheimtipp
The “suitable for baby carriages” rating is only correct if you do not walk back via the western shore. However, the road from Pigniu and the eastern shore (gravel road) is suitable for baby carriages. Before the dam wall, take the access road to the top of the wall rather than the hiking trail across the meadow.
