Details
Description
We hike leisurely from the Lukmanier hospice along the left side of the reservoir into Val Termine. The following rough path, built by the military up to Passo dell`uomo, is not exactly what hikers wish for. But as soon as we reach the highest point, we enjoy the intact nature again. To our left we catch a glimpse of the Pizzo delle Colombe, a peculiar, jagged mountain that seems quite out of place in this landscape.
The Val Piora lies ahead and soon we can already see the Cadagno hut. However, there is still much to see on the way, especially marmots! The place is known for them, and they are used to hikers so that we can get quite close. The beautiful terrace of Capanna Cadagno invites you to linger. Those who prefer to have a picnic will find wonderful spots directly by the water a few hiking minutes further, on the shore of Lago Cadagno.
We continue along the newly created path, all along the southern shore, up to the dam. Here there is another opportunity to stop. The last section to the mountain station of the funicular railway we hike on a forest road. The ride with the railway is a last highlight: It is one of the steepest funiculars there is. By bus and train, we return to Disentis.
Hidden Gem
The renovation of the Cadagno hut has been successful. Architecture lovers will be thrilled!

Directions
From the Lukmanier Pass, we follow the hiking trail westwards into Val Termine up to Passo dell` uomo. The former military road is partly quite rocky. We then continue hiking in the same direction until the Cadagno hut. After the hut, the forest road first runs along the right lakeside for a while. However, we leave it at the junction to the left lakeside. At the dam, we return to an asphalted road leading to the mountain station of the funicular railway.
