Description
The starting point of this bike route is Walenstadt. The historic "garrison town" is located on the eastern shore of Walensee and is figuratively bathed in sunlight due to its location. The first part of the route leads through vineyards and beautifully situated settlements. Already here you can enjoy magnificent views of Walensee.
After the leisurely start, the character of the route changes noticeably. As soon as you enter the forest, the ascent becomes steeper and now there are 11 hairpin bends that lead evenly, steadily, and steeply up to Lüsis. Thanks to the good gravel road and the cooling fir forest, the ascent can be managed well with a bit of fitness.
Eventually, the forest clears and the picturesque settlement of Lüsis appears. Just behind it, the Churfirsten rise steeply, and far below lies Walensee, which you can almost completely overlook from here. You can refresh yourself in the mountain inn and enjoy the unique panorama before the rapid descent on the ascent route leads back to Walenstadt.
