Description
We start on the Lukmanierpasshöhe in the Val Termine. The rough military road to the Passo dell'uomo is a bit tedious, but we have to earn today's downhill somehow. After the pass we soon change to a single trail and cross the western flank of the Pizzo delle Colombe (Campanitt). It is not snow that dazzles us on the way, but the dolomite, which fills sugar-shaped gutters and paths or lies chunks on the meadows.
Once we have reached the Passo del sole, we can celebrate. A gentle valley lies in front of us, green alpine pastures as far as the eye can see and a small lake, the Lago dei Canali. And we have an unobstructed view of the Rheinwaldhorn with its eternal snow.
Let's go - on the long, very long descent to Olivone. Always on the left side of the Ri di lareccio we let it roll until we reach the tree line with gnarled larches and alpine rose bushes. Before Alp Lareccio we have to turn right and follow a steeper path towards Stabbio Vecchio. On a road via Pian Segno it gets a bit more comfortable for a while, then we cross the pass road and change again to a single trail. We are now on the historic pass route of the mules and traders, on the Via Romana, which leads to Olivone. The landscape is very varied, we drive through floodplain and fir forests, along streams and past pretty rusticis. Particularly worth seeing is Sommascona, from where we are only a few minutes away from Olivone.
By bus we return to the Lukmanier Pass.
