Pista Fracch–Diga

The cars have just left the San Bernardino Tunnel. They rush over our heads, downhill towards Misox. After the trail initially follows the water arm of the dammed Moesa, it passes under the A13 motorway. Then it plunges into the magical “Bosch de San Remo.” And the road noise seems far away. After a loop in the protected fir forest surrounding the small winter sports resort San Bernardino, it gently descends to the reservoir Lake Lago d’Isola.

The track winds along the west shore. The most impressive section of the trail leads over the dam, where you enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Isola and the unique mountain landscape. Then the A13 is crossed again on a wooden bridge. After a loop of about half a kilometer, the trail winds along the forest edge and finally through the forest back to the village.

The nearly 30 km long, well-prepared cross-country trail network mainly winds through lush fir forest, which characterizes the village of San Bernardino located on the southern Alpine slope and radiates deep calm. Further, a majestic circle of mountain peaks frames this beautiful high plateau at the foot of the pass with the same name.
