Description

From Bivio:

By ski lift to Al-Cant (also Tua Lift). Ascent to Mot Scalotta P. 2560.0. Shortly over the ridge into a small notch. Then cross the east slopes of the Sur al Cant ridge southwards and reach the Leg Curegia (2594 m) via a terrace. Continue southwest until shortly before the Forcellina (2672 m) where you turn south and reach a large terrain hollow north of Piz Forcellina. Cross this towards southwest, then steeply climb the west ridge of Piz Turba. Ski depot near the summit and walk along the ridge to the peak. 2 hrs / 4.5 hrs without ski lift

Descent: towards Cavrecciatal and finally a well-deserved drink at Restaurant Tua in Bivio.

From Juf:

From Juf (2117 m) gentle ascent towards southeast to Mutt O, 2252. Then very steep eastwards to just below the Fuorcla da la Valletta at P. 2566. Follow the summer path southwards via a terrace to the small lake (P. 2618) and steeply up to the Forcellina (2672 m). The summit is reached towards south. 3½ hrs.

The ascent route from Juf is less suitable for descent. Under ideal and safe conditions, R. 420 d may be considered.

Variant: To Bivio and with ski lift support to Mot Scalotta P. 2560.0. Return over the Fuorcla da Valetta to Juf.

Descent through the NW couloir to Juf:

Impressive steep descent requiring absolutely safe conditions (35-40° over 400 m, entrance in couloir up to 45°). The couloir is not easy to find from above; do not be misled by the less steep slopes south of it, which end in rocky steep terrain!

Descent: from the ski depot, along the west ridge of Piz Turba north into the hollow, at the base of the distinctive rocky peak into the north ridge of Piz Turba. At the northern edge of this hollow (ca. 2850 m) entrance to the steep gully, which is bordered by rocks on the right. Descend through this initially narrow gully, which after about 250 m opens into a huge slope. Then descend less steeply into the Juferrhein valley floor and along its right bank to Juf.

Hidden Gem

After the route, stop at one of the cozy restaurants in Bivio.
