Details

Description

The scattered settlement of St. Margrethenberg lies lonely and deserted on a plateau above Pfäfers. The start and end point of this easy circular hike is the parking lot at the valley station of the Tristeli ski lift. A gently ascending hiking trail leads through forests and across flower-filled meadows towards the summit of Pizalun. A steep but well-built staircase leads right up to the Pizalun viewing platform. Up here, the Bündner Herrschaft and Sarganserland are literally at your feet. Thanks to the panorama boards, you can also name the many mountains all around you. From Pizalun down towards Fürggli, a leisurely hiking trail leads past the Jägeri mountain inn. Back on the plateau, the route follows the rarely used road - partly along the mountain stream and past the Sankt Margrethenberg chapel - back to the starting point.

Hidden Gem

Wild animals can often be seen in the meadow north of Pizalun. The best way to do this is of course with binoculars.

Safety Note

The last few meters up to the platform lead up a steep staircase.

Equipment

Depending on the weather, good footwear (hiking boots) is recommended, otherwise light trekking shoes are sufficient for the tour.
