Summit with a rewarding view after a long route.
Details
Description
From Soglio to Vest the path gently ascends, mostly through the forest and past the alpine buildings and pastures of Däir. Then it becomes significantly steeper and climbs steeply but well marked to the Pass da la Prasgnola. During the ascent, we are accompanied by a good view of the other side of Bergell, especially the mountains of Val Bondasca.
From the pass, the route continues off-trail over a broad rocky ridge to the summit of Pizzo Galleggione.
Safety Note
The route to Pizzo Galleggione is not technically exceptionally challenging but requires very good endurance. The last section to the summit is off-trail.
Directions
From Soglio we follow the forest path that leads above the village towards the west. After a good kilometer, shortly before the road ends at the EWZ structure, the route turns right and leads, initially west and later crossing to the north, to the clearing of Däir and then to Vest and Läira. Here it becomes steep and the path climbs steeply up to the Prasignola Pass (2724 m).
To reach Pizzo Galleggione, we turn left (west) at the pass crossing and follow close to the ridge. A first ascent leads to a height from which you can see the summit of Pizzo Galleggione. Without major obstacles, it continues through the scree fields, rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view, and thus we reach the summit (3108 m). The return follows the same route.
