Description

Our starting point is Thusis, from where the Viamala Gorge starts. It was once hated: "Bad way" was what the old mules called the wild, deep Viamala gorge through which the Hinterrhein roars. Today you travel there precisely because of the spectacular world of water and rock. In the middle of the Viamala Gorge is the visitor center. It is worth taking the 365 steps under the rivers to get all the way down into the gorge. Our tour continues between the steep rock faces to Zillis. The church of St. Martin in Zillis is known for its beautiful picture ceiling from the 12th century. An insider tip in Zillis is; the local specialty Capuns – prepared by the Capuns Swiss Champion at Gasthaus Post. The tour continues through the small villages of Donat and Clugin, past the castle ruins of Cagliatscha to Andeer. For relaxation, a visit to the mineral bath Andeer. On the return journey we go up to Pignia before going back down to Zillis. From Zillis to Thusis we take the same path back through the Viamala Gorge.
