Description

From Walenstadt railway station in the direction of Hotel Seehof, a tarred road leads along the right bank of the lake. After the playground, an ascending gravel path begins on the right-hand side through the forest to Garadur (Walenstadtberg). This path can also be travelled by post bus from Walenstadt to the "Alte Post" station. This shortens the hike by approx. 1 hour 15 minutes. The single-track hiking trail continues through the forest, zigzagging back to the lake. Once you reach the lake, a wonderful hike follows along the lake to the car-free hamlet of Quinten. The climate here is almost Mediterranean, allowing exotic fruits such as kiwis and figs to thrive. From there, take a leisurely boat trip to the other side of the lake to Murg and then take the train back to Walenstadt.

Hidden Gem

During the summer season, the return journey from Quinten to Walenstadt can also be made directly by boat if the tour is planned accordingly.

Safety Note

The descent in the Josenwald forest from Garadur to Josenhab can be slippery due to the weather.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear is recommended. On warm summer days, it can get very hot as the trail runs close to the rocks in places. Sun protection and plenty of fluids for the journey are a must.
