Round around Lake Sils

This is a great opportunity to discover the fascinating region around the Malojapass. The village of Sils is the easternmost point of the circular hike and offers many refreshment options along the way. From here, you could also take the scheduled boat for a pleasant return trip to Maloja, halving the effort of the hike around the lake.

Please note: From 27 October 2025 to 31 March 2026, the route between Sils and Isola will be diverted due to construction work. Please follow the signs on site.

It is best to leave the car at the parking lot east of Maloja, where the main road meets the shore of Lake Sils. From the parking lot, go left up the path that leads to a bend, then traverse the slope westward with a beautiful view of the Pizzo Badile and the mountains of Bergell. At the fork, go right until you reach the plain and the village of Blaunca (2037 m). Follow the small road past the beautiful houses and after a descent come to a second village located amid wonderful pastures: Grevasalvas. From this point, the path goes uphill again below a rock overhang, you come to a junction with the option to the Lago del Lunghin and reach a small hill on the right; from here begins a long diagonal descent with a nice view of the lake. At the next junction, turn right to reach the main road of the Engadin right at the intersection of Sils Baselgia. Between the typical Engadin houses, you enter the village and shortly after turn right to the lake shore and continue along the south side of the lake. Here you can also take the highest scheduled boat line in Europe back to Maloja. On foot, keep going until the small road narrows to a path and then reach Isola, which lies in a wide meadow on the shore of Lake Sils. The return to Maloja is along the lakeside road.
