Details
Description
The characteristic attraction can be described as the moorland alternating between dry and wet areas. In early summer, you can see carpets of the most beautiful lady's slipper orchids (Vital, 2009). The floral splendor in summer up to the Mattjischhorn is extraordinarily diverse. Also fantastic is the view back from Blackterfürggli towards Fondei. On Zaluënja there is briefly a resting place with a table and bench. The landscape is shaped by small hay barns, which are mostly out of use today. For many centuries, the mountain meadows on the Hochwang ridge up to over 2000 m asl have been cultivated by the Schanfigg farmers; thanks to federal contributions, this is still the case today. The mountain hay is considered particularly nutritious. Only above Peist and Langwies are the pasture areas used as alpine pastures. Those who prefer to indulge themselves in the Hochwang ski house above St. Peter can enjoy the wonderful view from the terrace.
