On to the Cungieri viewpoint! (signposted)
Details
Description
It is busy at Cungieri since the cable car to Culom da Vi started operating. So we will not be alone on our route. Sometimes "full of people", then again rather off on a separate track and past birches and bushes, we follow the signage. Particularly attractive is the left-hand loop over the hill when the birch forest is freshly snowed. In between we also follow a section of the prepared hiking trail so we have to cross fewer sled tracks along the right edge of the forest. At the two wooden owls we use the last slope which is mostly untracked. Our destination is in sight - the restaurant’s flag is flying!
Downwards we do not need to pay much attention to the signage, we walk freely across the open terrain and are quickly down.
At 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. we can also float down to the valley by cable car
Important: This route deviates from the signposted line but is less confusing.
Hidden Gem
Be the first in the morning to hike to Cungieri after a snowfall. Then the slope belongs only to you! Be sure to stop at the Ustria Cungieri.
Safety Note
In winter 24/25 the route will be newly signposted, according to description and route plan.
Freeriders also use the area at Cungieri.
Directions
From Sedrun station we follow the path along the tracks eastwards. After the bridge there is a tunnel to the left. At first we walk on the prepared winter hiking trail, then we follow the special signage for snowshoe hikers.
