Description

The Senda da las linguas is a new, approximately 8km long audio tour around Valchava. On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Chasa Jaura Valley Museum in Valchava, Annette Schmucki, Reto Friedmann and Gianna Olinda Cadonau have produced bilingual short radio plays for this circular route on behalf of the Biosfera Nature Park. The eleven lyrical audio pieces take Romanesque field names as the subject of sonic and narrative miniatures. Linguistically and musically, David Spinnler, Eva Nievergelt, Andri Steiner and Curdin Janett have participated.

Time incl. audio pieces: 3.5 to 4 hours

Download audio guide, we recommend headphones.

Directions

The Senda da las linguas starts and ends at the Chasa Jaura in Valchava. It can also be done in stages.

We follow the road up the valley for 300m. Then we follow the hiking trail sign on the right in the direction of "Büglios", cross the cantonal road and continue straight ahead. After the last houses, the paved road leads into a gravel road, which we follow in two hairpin bends across the meadow and at the end as a hiking trail in the direction of "Büglios". We have now reached the altitude and take the path on the right in the direction of Müstair and Sta. Maria. This Aual (Waalweg) leads 2.5km out of the valley to «Pizzet». Here's a junction with several signposts. We take the path down to the right in the direction of Sta. Maria and Valachava and cross the Rombach at Plaun Schumpeder. Now it goes up the road towards the village center. At the junction with the cantonal road, we turn right, following the bike signpost, and after a few meters we turn right again into "Döss da Punt". In front of the whiskey shop we turn left, signpost direction "Döss da las Levras". It goes 140m up the slope on the road. Then continue straight on the hiking trail for 250m. Here a forest road crosses our path. If we follow it for 40m, turn left in the direction of "Plaun da Viert", there is a bench with the radio play Pradella. To continue the Senda da las Linguas, we walk the 40m back to the crossroads and follow the signpost up the slope towards "Alp Prasüra", after 300m we are at "Döss da las Levras". Here we take the hiking trail on the right, towards Valchava and Chuccai. It leads down the stream for 200m. We cross the stream and follow the hiking trail. At the next junction we follow the signs for «Valchava». We follow this forest road for 200m (after 50m a road branches off to the right, but our path leads straight ahead!). After 200m we take the hiking trail, which goes off to the right, signpost towards Valchava and Fuldera. We now follow this path over the bridges of the "Aua da Vau", past "Multa" and the lime kiln "Chalchera" back towards "Valchava". As soon as we are back on the main road from the village, we turn left back to Chasa Jaura.
