The Tscheurig snowshoe trail starts in Thalkirch. Before you start hiking, it's worth taking a look at the small Thaler church. It impresses with its fine simplicity. The trail then branches off to the right of the Talstrasse opposite the Alte Post post bus stop.

Steadily ascending slightly, you hike up to the lower Tscheurig huts and on to Alp Tscheurig. From here it gets a little steeper and you become more and more aware of the pronounced terrain chambers at the foot of the Tällihorn. At an altitude of around 2,100 metres, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the end of the valley with the dominant Weisshorn. If you observe the surroundings carefully, you can even observe ptarmigan.

After crossing the Gasslitobel, the descent to Alp Guw begins and on to the Turrahus mountain inn and the Thalkirch/Turrahus post bus stop. Right next door, in the Turrahus exhibition stables, visitors can learn interesting facts about the settlement of the Safien Valley and the wooden buildings and stables typical of the valley. You can even lend a hand yourself and try covering a roof with shingles. If you like it cosy, you can satisfy your hunger in the nearby mountain inn Turrahus or in the Hofbeizli Gassli with fine regional delicacies.

The trail can also be done in the opposite direction.

This snowshoe tour is marked off-road with pink posts, but is not groomed. There are some steeper slopes. If there is a high risk of avalanches, tours in unsecured terrain must be avoided as a matter of principle.

You can find out more about the current avalanche danger on WhiteRisk .

For carefree enjoyment on longer tours, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking guides of the Surselva.

Well-functioning snowshoes, poles with winter plates, good footwear, clothing suitable for winter. The wind can significantly lower the perceived temperature in winter: don't forget winter gloves, hat, thermos bottle, etc.

It is necessary to carry complete safety equipment, including an avalanche transceiver (avalanche transceiver) on this tour.

Snowshoe equipment can be rented at the Gasslihof .
