Description

It is recommended to plan an overnight stay in the SAC Zapport hut. This route requires high experience and alpine equipment such as crampons, touring ice axe, rope, etc. In many cases, a ski depot is also necessary. The route over the military training area is flat but long. If you want to avoid this, a shuttle service can be requested from a regional taxi company. Otherwise, start at the North Portal of the San Bernardino tunnel and cross the military training area following the Hinterrhein to the valley end. Then it goes through a small gorge to approx. point 1960 before the "Höll". From there, ascend to point 2097. Then, if safe snow conditions permit, you can ascend directly to the Zapport hut. Otherwise, detour. From the hut, follow the band to the Hinterrhein. Then to the origin and finally to the valley end. Via a first northern ascent and then a southwestern ascent, you reach the summit ridge and finally the summit.

Hidden Gem

We recommend a two-day route with an overnight stay in the Zapport hut.

Safety Note

Important is to inform yourself about the shooting times of the military training area. During the shooting times entering the danger zone is life-threatening and therefore prohibited.
