Sonnenaufgang am Piz Calmut. T1

We first inquire when we can expect the sunrise at Piz Calmut. In mid-July, that's about 6 o'clock.

Since the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn is still asleep, we make our way by car to the Oberalp Pass. It is still quiet and quiet and we walk on a road towards Pass Tiarms. After a few more bends we reach the summit cross and we still have some time for a hot coffee, which we pour from our thermos bottle. Wrapped in our down jackets, because it is still quite fresh, we watch as the light and colors of the sky change. We look to the west, where the mountain range of the Damma and Galenstock turns red. And to the east, where the haze lays light veils over the valley. Then the time has come: The first rays of sunshine overcome the horizon! Simply wonderful. We make the descent via the soapstone quarry on the south side of Piz Calmot.

Pack warmly, it is usually very fresh and windy.

Behind the new gondola station we find a signpost from where the trail leads to the road to the Pass Tiarms. On the Tiarm hill, the road branches off to the right and ends at the summit of Piz Calmut. The way back is from the chairlift station on a hiking trail in a southerly direction to the soapstone quarry. From here we follow the road to the Oberalp Pass
