SSWR 2023: Longdistance

The circular route begins at the Obersee, which is located at 1,735 metres above sea level. After a flat kilometre, the trail goes uphill and along the Squirrel Trail. An eye-catcher on the way up is the mountain oasis of the Tschuggen Grand Hotel, designed by star architect Mario Botta. There's a lot going on in winter at the Tschuggenhütte with KuhBar – the après-ski meeting place in Arosa par excellence. To the middle station of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car, which is located at 2,010 m above sea level. M. is the highest point, it is now not far away. The gaze wanders after their passage to the Arosa Bear Sanctuary. The route then descends through the Arlen Forest to Maran, where it passes the Maran dairy and the Hotel Hof Maran and offers a magnificent view of the cross-country ski trail and the golf course. From Scheitaboda to the start of the so-called home runway, the route is almost flat. Then it goes partly steeply down to the Obersee and thus back to the starting point.
