Description

Surrounded by steep slopes and high peaks, Valpschiavo is not only suitable for long mountain hikes. The valley also offers trails with minimal elevation gain to hike. For those looking for an easy hike, the largely flat valley floor is ideal. From the church of San Carlo one ascends for about a hundred meters in the direction of Somaino, then continues into the boso and eventually descends to the north of Poschiavo. From here on, the route is flat. The second part of the walk leads through a pretty landscape characterized by meadows, hedges and dry stone walls, continuing later along the Poschiavino River. At Rutisc you cross an idyllic landscape with small lakes and streams of crystal clear water. The last leg of the walk runs directly along Lake Poschiavo.

The route offers a lot of variety: there are nature sections with beautiful views, footbridges, tunnels, and even two short tunnels.

Hidden Gem

Don't miss: a coffee in Poschiavo's beautiful square and the Via dei Palazzi with its urban atmosphere.
