Panixer Stausee. Früher war es der Suworow, heute sind es Gravelbiker. Das macht heute deutlich mehr Spass. Und dann diese Aussicht von der Staumauer aus!

Breil/Brigels and Andiast belong to the sunniest villages in the Surselva. This gravel route leads through impressive mountain landscapes and charming villages. The solitude in Val Ladral and the beautifully situated reservoir above Panix make up for every drop of sweat.

Description

A constant up and down shapes the first part of this diverse route from Brigels into the natural paradise Ladral. The descent to Andiast gets the brake discs up to operating temperature before the ascent to the Panix reservoir demands the thighs again. Once at the top, the lake invites you to a well-deserved break. Afterwards, it rolls comfortably down into the charming village of Pigniu (Romansh for Panix). The last section leads uphill again and back to Brigels.

The route is planned so that the ascents mostly take place on pleasant gravel, while the descents mostly run on solid ground. Of course, the round trip can also be done in reverse direction – or combined with an alternative starting point such as Rueun.

Hidden Gem

At the reservoir “Lag da Pigniu”, be sure to take the time to follow the gravel road to the end of the valley. The steep rock walls and the roaring waterfall at the valley's end are an impressive natural spectacle – a moment to pause and marvel.

Safety Note

The route should not be undertaken in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.
