Talloipe Rheinwald Schneiti

The location on the Splügen Pass and the San Bernardino characterises the small mountain village: Large, Italian-style palazzi stand in Splügen right next to the sun-tanned wooden houses of the Walser. For its historic village centre, the old Graubünden pass village was awarded the Wakker Prize by the Swiss Heritage Society.

The valley trail begins at the cross-country skiing centre on the outskirts of the village. Shortly after the start, a bridge is crossed. Then, always following the banks of the Hinterrhein, it goes alternately through sparse forest and wide, open areas. The view of the Rhine Forest mountains - including Guggernüll, Einshorn and Chilchalphorn - enriches the way to Nufenen and back again.

The route will be supplemented by an additional lap for experienced cross-country skiers. This extra loop branches off in Splügen at the Schneiti and leads back to the main trail as a more challenging loop. This opens up a sportier variant within the Viamala cross-country ski trail network, which is particularly suitable for trained guests due to its varied route.

Cross-country skiing in the evening

In order to enable optimal cross-country ski trail preparation and to give our game rest, the following rules apply.

• Evening cross-country skiing is only possible on the valley trail
• Entire valley trail (Splügen - Nufenen 13km)
  • Tuesday until 10:00 p.m.
  • Thursday until 10:00 p.m.
• Small loop (Erla-Camping, training trail 1.5km)
  • daily until 10:00 p.m.
