The Cavaglia Glacier Garden

The glacier garden is about 400 metres south of the station and is well marked and secured throughout. All the glacier potholes are clearly signposted and secured with handrails. One of the glacier potholes is even ‘interactive’. With care, you can climb down a steel staircase to the bottom of this huge circular pot. In addition to the glacier mills, the Glacier Garden is also home to unique alpine vegetation. Following the retreat of the glacier around 10,000 years ago, a special biotope has also been created. The walk takes you to a wonderful hillside terrace with a view of the entire Valposchiavo. The hike ends at the bridge over the Cavagliasco stream, where a huge rocky gorge opens up. You can descend into this gorge via a metal staircase and admire the bizarre rock formations. A wide path takes you back to the railway station in just a few minutes.

There is a free little picture book with Grummo's story for children aged 5 to 12. At the display boards in the glacier garden there are matrices with which the children can make stamps in their little book. This is the only way they will uncover the secret of Grummo's incredible power.
