Upper Engadin Hut Route
Show all 14 images
On the three-day mountain bike hut route through the alpine mountain world of the Upper Engadin, two of the most extraordinary mountain huts are visited: the Hotel Belvédère at Alp Grüm high above the Val Poschiavo and the Parkhütte Varusch at the entrance to the National Park. Also in terms of trails, the bikepacking route with a start in Preda and destination Bergün is top class. Thanks to the Albula Trail, the Bernina Express descent to Poschiavo, and the Supertrail from Pass Chaschauna, three of Graubünden’s big trail highlights are on the agenda.

Description
The Upper Engadin is top class. This applies not only to the upscale hotels in St. Moritz or Pontresina, but also to the mountain huts. The Upper Engadin hut route with a start in Preda and destination Bergün is undertaken independently as a bikepacking tour. The mountain huts at the Bernina Pass and at the entrance to the National Park are among the most extraordinary and rustic accommodations in the Upper Engadin and also impress culinarly.
Fun singletrails connect these, with the route described in detail in the trailbook and followed using GPS tracks. The clothes and items needed for the three-day hut route fit in your own backpack. It is recommended to book the hut route between Sunday and Thursday, as the mountain huts are often fully booked on weekends. In July and August, booking a tour start on Friday or Saturday is not possible.
