Details
Description
From Lavin station, walk east along the road past the church and at the village exit turn left under the railway and cantonal road onto the forest road. Follow the signs of the Via Engiadina through the forest to the entrance of Val Lavinuoz. The route goes over Alp Dadoura and to Alp d'Immez along the alpine road, then turns right and climbs somewhat steeply through alpine rose bushes. The view into Val Lavinuoz to Verstanclahorn and the glacier Vadret da las Maisas below is very rewarding. High above Alp d'Immez the path continues on the same level again eastwards. On the opposite side of the valley of Val Lavinuoz is the shapely Piz Linard. Along the flank of Piz Chapisun to Chamanna dal Bescher (serving in summer), the path crosses the avalanche track of Gonda, which gave the village Lavin its name. At the ridge of Chapisun the blasting masts are visible, further down in the valley you can see the remains of the 12th-century settlement of Gonda. The path then leads back towards Val Tuoi. Just before the valley floor, a path branches right through the gorge “Foura Turnina” to Guarda. In Guarda there are various places to eat as well as PostBus connection to Guarda station and the RhB network.
Hidden Gem

- Those with enough energy continue along the Via Engiadina into the Val Tuoi up to Alp Suot. Before Alp Suot, the turning point in Val Tuoi, you cross the valley brook, the Clozza. After Alp Suot there is another ascent above the tree line and then downhill following the valley to the scenic Alp Sura.
