Description

viaCapricorn is a mountain hike that leads through the natural habitat of the Alpine ibex. Per stage, experienced mountaineers need to plan around 8 to 9 hours.

Please note that viaCapricorn is a mountain hike. Surefootedness is required. This tour is not suitable for small children.

Ausrüstung

Sturdy mountain boots with non-slip soles, weatherproof and warm clothing, rain protection, food and sufficient water, sun and head protection, first-aid kit, maps, possibly telescopic poles, binoculars or telescope.

The hiking trail is signposted throughout with the No. 693 as a regional route of Hiking in Switzerland and marked in red and white.

The Center da Capricorns in Casti-Wergenstein on the Schamserberg is home to several organisations and services. The project was initiated by the Fundaziun Capricorn, which runs the local hotel and restaurant and promotes sustainable tourism. An exhibition provides information about the nature park and the ibex.

The capricorn exhibition in the Center da Capricorns in Wergenstein imparts exciting and interesting information about the king of the Alps. The ibex was reintroduced 60 years ago in the region of the nature park and there are now about 300 animals.

The standard equipment on the Via Capricorn includes good shoes, a water bottle and a warm jacket for higher altitudes, but above all: binoculars. At the latest after the steep ascent from Alp Biggenmad up to Alperschälli, the binoculars should be ready to hand. This is where the ibex can be observed particularly often.
