Details
Description
From Turrahus, follow the valley floor to Piggamad and further towards Alperschälli. The ascent through the Höllgraba to Alperschälli is steep and challenging; the mountain path requires surefootedness. Alperschälli belongs to the municipality of Safien but has always been managed by farmers from Schams, as it is more easily accessible from the Schams side. In summer months, there is a very high chance of observing ibex here. Over the Farcletta digl Lai Grand at an altitude of 2,661 m above sea level, you descend in front of the imposing Grauhörner/Pizzas d'Anarosa to Lai Grand, a true gem of a mountain lake. The descent leads over Alp Nurdagn and further through Danis and Dumagns to Wergenstein.
Tip
Use the hiking bus from Dumagns to Wergenstein to shorten the descent.
Hidden Gem
- Stop at the mountain tavern on Alp Nurdagn
Safety Note
This mountain hike requires surefootedness. The viaCapricorn is not suitable for small children.
On high sections, snow may still lie late into summer.
Equipment
Sturdy mountain boots with grippy soles, weatherproof and warm clothing, rain protection, provisions and sufficient water, sun and head protection, pocket first aid kit, map material, possibly telescopic poles, binoculars or telescope.
