Take a bike ride around Domleschg and then ride through the Viamala Gorge up into Val Schons to the spa town of Andeer.
Details
Description
The first stage leads through the Domleschg, past Sils i.D., Scharans, Almens and Tomils to Rothenbrunnen. The varied cultural landscape of the Domleschg is characterized by high-stem orchards, hedges, dry stone walls and especially by its castles and palaces. From Rothenbrunnen, the route follows the Hinterrhein back to Thusis. From there, the route continues along the traffic-free Viamala Trail to the impressive Viamala Gorge, an imposing natural monument. Deep below, the Hinterrhein meanders through the gorge. Despite all the obstacles, this route was the best access to the Splügen Pass from the 14th century onwards and was the shortest north-south Alpine crossing. The tour continues to Zillis, where the 12th century church of St. Martin with its unique ceiling painting is well worth seeing. The route then continues at a leisurely pace via Donat and Clugin to Andeer.
Geheimtipp
After your bike tour, the Andeer mineral spa is the perfect place to treat yourself to a well-earned rest and recharge your batteries.
Sicherheitshinweis
The route from Thusis to the Viamala Gorge leads through busy road tunnels, which are not well lit and unclear. For your own safety, we recommend fitting bike lights at the front and rear for these passages.
Ausrüstung
An e-mountain bike is recommended.
