Description
On the way from Pigniu into the valley of the Vorderrhein stand several lovely churches and chapels. The route ends in the first town on the Rhine, Ilanz, where the weakened Russian troops arrived on 7 October 1799, ending the ViaSuworow.
We start in the small village of Pigniu and initially hike along the little trafficked main road and later along the alp road up to Darpagaus. The view from this alpine dairy farm is brilliant. It then goes leisurely down the alp road to Rueun, which lies almost in the valley floor. After the village, a pleasant cool-down awaits you over a few meters of hiking trails and large parts of side roads.
Safety Note
The route should not be started in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.
Equipment
Good hiking boots with a good profile or trekking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket/sun protection), drink, possibly provisions, possibly hiking poles.
