Gebiet Murgsee

The break from the Mürtschenfurggel can be traced further to the Murgseefurggel and the Widersteinerfurggel. There, massive verrucano rocks (west) were pushed against softer, more schisted verrucano rocks. The massive verrucano rocks in the area of the Murg lakes were strongly shaped and polished by the glaciers. In addition to peatlands, the northernmost Central European occurrences of extensive Swiss stone pine stands developed.
