Stately signs in Vättis were the house of the "Lerchen" bailiff of the monastery Pfäfers, and the presumed castle of the lordship of Rhäzüns. For a time, the village was divided between the two lordships, along the Taminabach, "Vorderbrugg" and "Hinterbrugg". Today's cantonal border in the Kunkelstal ran through the middle of the village, so to speak. To secure the village part "Hinterbrugg" there was probably a small castle in the area at the now still known field name Burg, surroundings Rüti at the entrance to the Kunkelstal. Foundations of it are still visible.Vättis was and is a junction to the Tamina Valley in the direction of Pfäfers-Valens, to the Calfeisen Valley and to the Kunkel Valley. In addition, there used to be the equally important Guaggis-Salaz-Untervaz connection.
