The cold kick for the hard-core: ice swimming. Trendy and suitable for anyone looking for an unusual experience.

Description

Ice bathing, in particular, is associated with numerous positive effects on body and mind. A brief immersion in the ice is said to strengthen the immune system, promote blood circulation, sharpen the mind and senses, and even improve mood. These effects on the body can be explained relatively easily: The cold provides a stimulus that can lead to an increased production of endorphins, the so-called "happiness hormones," adrenaline, and anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. This winter, the Engadine region offers two official ice bathing areas that invite you to take an invigorating dip in the clear lake water. Until the end of the season, you can take a dip in the idyllic Lake Sils at Plaun da Lej daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A coat rack is available on site. Alternatively, Lake St. Moritz (on the western shore, near the Ludains ice arena) beckons for a winter swim. **Information on Ice Bathing** Please note that ice bathing also carries risks. People with high blood pressure, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease are advised against participating. Tips on preparation and other important information before your first ice swim can be found on the Swiss Cold Training Association website.
