Description

Niche products made from sheep's and cow's milk are processed fresh every day by Chatrina Mair. The cheese is made exclusively from sheep's or cow's milk, whereby no milk from different animal species is mixed. In addition, the cheese dairy attaches great importance to regionality and short transport routes. It works closely with tourism, so that the products can be sold mainly in the region. In summer, Che Chaschöl can often be found at a market in Klosters on Saturdays.

History

About 50 years ago, milk was delivered to Khasharia. At that time, more than 30 farmers still lived here. These became fewer and fewer over time and the cheese dairy had to be closed. Until 25 years ago, when the goat and sheep farmers joined forces with the cheesemakers Peter and Chatrina Mair and, thanks to good cooperation, won the Migros Prize of CHF 25,000. Today there are only eight farmers left in Tschlin. Of these, two run dairy farming, while one farmer keeps dairy sheep and five farmers keep suckler cows. The dairy farmers bring their sheep's and cow's milk to Chatrina and Peter Mair's cheese dairy, who turn it into delicious dairy products.

  • Take the PostBus from Scuol from Martina to Strada and change to Tschlin.
