Description
The Lochezen site near Walenstadt covers 217,800 m² and includes buildings, apartments, natural areas, and a former quarry. Geobrugg AG tests modern rockfall nets there. The local community has researched the historical significance of the quarry and offers exciting guided tours. Visitors can explore tunnels, caverns, and relics from the former limestone and cement mining operations, as well as an underground military hospital from World War II. The tours last around 2.5 to 3 hours, require sturdy shoes and warm clothing, and cost from CHF 300 per group.
