"Scatlè" means something like "nested", the spruce forest is really nested by steep rock ledges, boulder debris fields and avalanches.
Between 1850 m and 2015 m above sea level, the 150 to 300 m wide forest strip stretches. The approximately 5.5 ha reserve is the highest primeval spruce forest in Europe.

At the top of the hill, adorned with a red onion roof, you can see the tower of Luven church. Below, hidden among the trees on Lugnezerstrasse, is the old Ilanz parish church of St. Martin. The church is not open to the public.

At the entrance to the Tamina Gorge, where the famous 36.5° C warm thermal water rises, stands the oldest preserved baroque bath in Switzerland, the Old Bath Pfäfers. It contains several historical rooms, museums or even a restaurant.
