An imposing series of stately buildings from the 2nd half of the 19th century border the historic village centre of Poschiavo to the south. The builders of these residences were returned emigrants, mostly Protestants, who had come to wealth as confectioners with coffee houses in the great metropolises of Europe.
Alp Grüm is located at 2,091 m above sea level.M on the edge of the first slope of the Valposchiavo. From here you can enjoy an unmistakable view over the whole Valposchiavo, which extends to Italy. In 1910, the Bernina Line of the Rhaetian Railway was built here. The pretty station building, made of quarry stones, is both a restaurant and a hotel and was opened in 1926.
