An imposing series of stately buildings from the second half of the 19th century borders the historic centre of Poschiavo in the south. The builders of these residences were returned emigrants, mostly Protestants, who had come to wealth as sugar bakers with coffee houses in the great metropolises of Europe.
Alp Grüm is located at 2,091 m above sea level.M on the edge of the first felling stage of the Valposchiavo. From here you can enjoy an unmistakable view over the whole Valposchiavo, which extends as far as Italy. In 1910, the Bernina Line of the Rhaetian Railway was built here. The beautiful station building, built of quarry stones, is both a restaurant and a hotel and was opened in 1926.
